Hello, beauties!

Having luscious locks is everyone’s dream, but pollution, sun exposure and improper lifestyle can make our strands rough, malnourished and brittle. While store-bought masks definitely aid in restoring shine and strength, natural remedies work in the long run. They add nourishment, body and help to make your mane stronger. I decided to resort to some home remedies which would act as super food for my curly, dry, brittle hair. Also, my mane is super frizzy, so this mask smoothens my hair to some extent. Curious to know about this great sounding mask? Here is my easy to make nourishing protein hair mask.

Ingredients:

• A Whole Egg (both yolk and egg white)
• Coconut Oil
• Tea Tree Oil
• Half Lemon

Preparation:

Step 1: Empty the contents of an egg into a bowl. I use the yolk and egg whites as I feel both of them work excellently in conjugation.

Step 2: Add two tablespoons of coconut oil to this. The amount of coconut oil you add is dependent on the texture of your hair. For my dry, frizzy hair which extends up to shoulder length, I use two tablespoons. If you have oily hair, you might like to use less of oil. If your hair length is more, you might scale up the quantity.

Step 3: Beat this mixture very well. It will turn into a yellow frothy liquid. The consistency will be runny and you can find an emulsion kind look with oil droplets floating.

Step 4: Squeeze the lemon juice into the mixture.

Step 5: Add 4-5 drops of tea tree oil.

Step 6: Mix well, and try to achieve a uniform consistency.

Directions of use:

• Use a wide-toothed comb for your hair to eliminate knots and tangles.

• Make sections and start applying this mixture from the scalp area.

• Work your way from roots to tips slowly.

• Leave it on for 30-45 minutes.

• Wash off with a mild shampoo, preferably free from SLS.

• Air dry and comb.

Benefits of this mask:

Eggs are the best protein sources for hair and skin. The egg yolk binds the ingredients of the hair pack into a homogeneous mixture and moisturizes dry hair. Because of its emollient properties it acts as a conditioner to tame strands and provide hydration. It adds volume to your hair and makes it lustrous and shiny. It provides nourishment as it penetrates through the scalp and mends rough hair. Coconut oil promotes hair growth, tames frizz and smoothens hair. It isn’t just beneficial for your strands, it also provides nourishment from within, preventing breakage. Tea tree oil and lemon soothes the scalp, reduces irritation, dandruff and infections. Tea tree oil also helps in promoting hair growth. This protein mask ensures that not only your hair is cared for, but is also protected from damage and infections.
