You’ll feel effing flawless rocking braids. Not just regular braids — dope braids. The kind that’ll have you doing a double-take in the mirror and getting stopped on the street every day by women asking who did your hair. Get ready to swoon over these screenshot-worthy looks styled by Brooklyn-based braid guru Stasha Harris of Magic Fingers Studio.

Super Star Cornrows

Add a surprise element to simple cornrows with a cool shape in the center of your braids (this star though!). Instead of braiding all the way down to the ends, add wavy extensions to elevate the look.

1. Part your hair. Using a skinny rattail comb, part your hair directly down the middle, stopping 5 inches from your hairline.

2. Braid your star. Using Ampro’s Shine ’N Jam Conditioning Gel Extra Hold and a rattail comb, section your hair into a star shape in the center of your head. Then, braid tiny cornrows in the direction of your star.

3. Begin your cornrows. On the left side of your star, part your hair at an angle into three medium-size sections. Then, braid three medium-size cornrows that stop at the nape of your neck.

4. Connect the cornrows together. Combine the ends of your three medium-size braids together into one big braid, using gel to smooth flyaways.

4. Add wavy extensions to the ends of your braids. Instead of braiding your hair all the way to the ends, interlock your braids with wavy extensions, and secure the hair with a rubber band. Repeat the same step on the other half of your hair.

Flawless Half-Up Cornrows

Let your natural curls do their thing with this free-flowing style. Freestyle cornrows are more fun, because your designs are guaranteed to be dope.

1. Part your hair. Using a rattail comb and Ampro’s Shine ‘N Jam Conditioning Gel, part your hair horizontally 4 inches away from your hairline.

2. Begin your tiny cornrows. Part your hair into small sections and create tiny cornrows in fun designs. Feel free to play around with the shape of your parts and overlap your cornrows to create a cool and unexpected look.

3. Connect the ends of your front braids together. To help your braids in the front blend in with your natural curls in the back, add a cute cuff to secure the ends of your braids. This is an ~optional~ step — you can also tuck the ends of your braids into your natural curls.

Two-Toned Bantu Knots

Edge up your braided bantu knots with even more with color — the head-turning style will have you winning cool-girl of the year.

1. Part your hair into sections. Using Creme of Nature’s Edge Control and a rattail comb, part your hair into 10 medium-size sections. Adding zigzag and triangle parts will take the look to the next level.

2. Brush each section of your hair into a tight ponytail. In each section, brush your hair into a tight ponytail, secured with a rubber band.

3. Add braided, colored extensions. Using Shake-N-Go’s Braiding Hair in both black and honey blonde colors (or whatever color your heart desires), create one long braid in each section of your hair.

4. Create bantu knots. Rope your braid around in a circular motion to create a tight coil. Secure the coil with a rubber band for an even tighter hold. Repeat this step on all sections of your hair.
