Routines define us: from when we wake up in the morning and make our beds, to how we get to work and prepare meals, there is a step-by-step process to just about everything we do. Why shouldn’t the same apply to makeup?
Believe it or not, when it comes to your makeup, the order you put things on is just as important as the products you use. Learning the right order for using makeup will minimize mishaps and maximize results. Here’s the order you should apply your products to your face in the morning for a flawless application every time!
Primer or moisturizer
Pick one, not both – as even the lightest lotion can make a primer less effective. Not sure of which to choose? If you’re on the drier side, opt for the moisturizer and skip the primer. If you’re on the oilier side, go straight for the primer. Also, If you have oily skin a primer is kind of essential. It is not easy to find the best product, but I suggest you try Honest Beauty Everything Primer.
This one is my favorite by far. It feels so nice and luxurious to apply and almost feels like satin on the skin. The staying power is pretty good too. I can admit that this is definitely a very good product.
Eye makeup (shadow, liner and mascara–in that order)
By starting with this step, you can quickly clean up any mistakes without disrupting the rest of your makeup later. First, lay down your shadow to add some dimension to your lids, and then define your eyes with liner. Then apply mascara.
Don’t forget to change out your mascara every three months so that it’s fresh and doesn’t leave your lashes dry-looking and clumpy.
Foundation
Once your skin is adequately hydrated, this will create the flawless canvas for the rest of your face. It is very important to choose the right foundation for your skin type. But it is not impossible to find the perfect foundations – and Teint Idole Ultra Long Wear 24H is that type of product that suits to any type of skin. If you like full coverage this might be the one for you.
Concealer
Evaluate the parts of your face that may want some extra cover-up, then dab your concealer on with a brush and lightly blend it out.
Powder
Your face powder is designed to set your makeup and soak up excess oil, so sweep over shiny t-zones, chins and under-eyes to set concealer.
Bronzer followed by blush
Bronzer is used to warm up your entire face, whereas blush is used to add color just to your cheeks. Sweep bronzer on the high points of your face first (so your forehead, down the bridge of your nose and tops of cheekbones) and then apply your blush to balance out the tone.
Lipstick and Gloss
If you plan on using both, add your color with the lipstick first, then place the gloss over it.
Eyebrow pencil or gel
The color of your brows should be based on the shade of eyeshadow, blusher and lipstick so leave them until last, and aim to make them match the rest of your look.
If you have problems with your makeup creasing, moving or fading, you might be applying your makeup in the wrong order. These problems are very common, but the solutions are very simple. It is important to understand that from your primer to your concealer, each product aids each other when is used in the proper order.
