Hey lovely ladies,
I made a very easy body scrub recipe, that will surely make your skin soft and swoon-worthy. I loved using store bought body scrubs like those from The Body Shop and Grace Cole. But they turn out to be expensive for daily use, especially if you have rough skin and suffer from ingrown hair. I hate whipping up home-made scrub recipes every time before a shower time (lazy I am). So, I tried making something, that would be convenient to store and easy to use. Scroll down to know about how I make it and my secret ways of using it. Keep scrolling.
Ingredients:
Oats: Half cup (or 2 tablespoons for a single use)
Almond powder: Half cup (or 2 tablespoons for a single use)
Coffee powder: 1 teaspoon, you can use ground coffee ( I used Plain Nescafe)
Method:
Perhaps the easiest method of a DIY.
The oats and almond powder should be in equal proportion, so as to have enough of soft, big oats and coarse almond powder for better scrubbing.
The amount of coffee you use can vary. Since coffee will cause slight bronzing of skin, I keep it minimal. If you like smooth tanned complexion or are on the duskier side, you can use more.
Mix all of them in the required amounts, stir them well and store them in a glass or plastic airtight container. Shake the container so as to ensure everything is uniformly distributed.
My Ways of Using it:
This scrub recipe is so versatile and can be tweaked as per preferences or needs.
Normal Day/Simple Usage: Mix with water or rosewater and apply it on your body. Massage and wash it off.
For Dry Skin: Mix with milk, leave on for 5 minutes and wash off with lukewarm water. Use gentle massage to scrape off flaky skin. You can also use rosewater and glycerin in place of milk
For Normal/Oily/Sunburnt/Tanned Skin: Mix with fresh yoghurt and leave it on for 10 minutes. It will smoothen your skin and removes even stubborn tan.
Very Dry, Parched Skin: Add coconut oil or olive oil to this mixture, massage on skin and wash it off. Follow up with a moisturizer.
All skin types can add honey for extra benefits. This scrub is gentle enough to be used daily. Also, the ingredients are non-abrasive and are great for a mild face scrub.
Benefits:
Oats: An oatmeal scrub is safe for even the most sensitive skin. It is a natural exfoliant which cleans your skin and makes it free from oil and impurities. Oats help in the recovery of the eczematous skin by moisturizing, restoring the skin barrier, reducing itchiness, and regulating inflammation. If you have irritated and itchy skin which reacts badly to any store bought scrub, oatmeal scrub should be on your must-try lists.
Almond Powder: Lightens and smoothens skin, making it lustrous and hydrated. It also helps in reducing tan and blemishes, without bleaching agents.
Coffee Powder: It improves body circulation and also helps to reduce puffiness. Being rich in antioxidant properties, it aids in anti-ageing and prevents sagging skin. It boosts skin radiance and stimulates skin cell turnover.
This scrub recipe is also a great addition to your beauty regimen, if you have Cellulitis, as it improves circulation and firms skin.
Enjoy using it!
