The world has been hyped over a Beyoncé vs. Adele showdown ever since the Grammy nominations were announced.

With Beyoncé up for nine awards compared to Adele’s five, it was widely believed that Queen Bey would reign supreme come Grammy night.

But Adele and her record-breaking album 25 have pulled off an upset, with the UK singer achieving a clean sweep of five gongs compared to Beyoncé’s two, for Music Video and Urban Contemporary Album.

Beyonce only scored two gongs this year.

With Adele picking up the three biggest awards of the night, Song of the Year, Record of the Year and Album of the Year, as well as Pop Vocal Album and Pop Solo Performance, it’s been a huge night for the 28-year-old.

Adele couldn’t believe her clean sweep of five awards.

But, gracious as ever, she paid tribute to her fellow diva during her acceptance speech, giving Bey props for her album Lemonade.

The star gave her fellow singer props in her speech.

“My artist of my life is Beyoncé. The Lemonade album was monumental, so beautiful and soul-baring…we all got to see another side of you that you don’t always let us see,” Adele said, leaving Beyonce in tears.

Bey was moved to tears by Adele’s emotional tribute.
