Today, I am here with another DIY having green tea and camphor as its ingredients. This DIY face mist is perfect for all the skin types as it also has glycerin to provide adequate moisture to the skin. This face mist is prepared with the ingredients having anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, perfect for acne-prone and irritated skin. I have used this face mist in the phase when my skin was having a rough time. It literally saved my skin from all the redness that prescribed tretinoin gifted. So, let’s get into the details.

Ingredients and their benefits:

1. Green tea:
Green tea has so many benefits. It has anti-inflammatory properties which help in combating redness and irritation and soothes your skin. It is a great source of anti-oxidants which eliminates free radicals and makes your skin healthy. It firms your skin, thus, imparting a natural glow. It also helps in keeping the skin oil-free, but at the same time, it provides enough hydration. Moreover, it is effective in preventing the acne breakouts as well.

2. Camphor:
As I mentioned in my previous DIY, camphor is quite beneficial for acne prone and oily skin. It helps in soothing the skin, treating inflammation and rashes. It possesses antibacterial and antifungal properties that prevent any bacterial or fungal infestation. The use of camphor makes the skin oil-free, treats acne and soothes the skin effectively, making it clear and blemish-free.

3. Glycerin:
Glycerin acts as an unbeatable moisturizer that makes the skin soft, supple and hydrated instantly. It reduces the redness and itchiness along with hydrating the dry and flaky skin. It smoothens out the skin, providing a healthy glow to it. Since glycerin is a humectant, it maintains the skin’s moisture balance and minimizes the moisture loss from the skin. Its therapeutic property heals the skin and protects the skin from further damage.

4. Tea tree essential oil:
Tea tree essential oil used for treating many skin ailments, acne and redness being two of them. The antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties of tea tree oil make it perfect for treating acne and soothing the irritated skin.

How to make:

Step 1: Brew a half cup of green tea and let it cool down.

Step 2: Later, add a teaspoon of powdered camphor.

Step 3: Add a tablespoon full of glycerin to it. You can adjust the amount of glycerin according to your skin type.

Step 4: Finish the procedure by adding 4-5 drops of tea tree essential oil to the concoction. Mix it well.

Step 5: Pour the concoction into a spritz bottle and keep it refrigerated.

Results:

The face mist provides the skin enough hydration without making it greasy or leaving any residue behind. A few days back, I was on prescribed tretinoin that made my skin red, flaky, dry and irritated. Though the skin was exfoliating, it was painful at the same time. I wasn’t allowed to use any other skin care product in conjunction to the tretinoin. I have to apply the tretinoin at night and hence, I used this face mist once or twice during the day only. It was quite effective in hydrating the dry patches. It reduced the redness to a certain extent, making skin moisturized and glowing. While using this face mist in the morning and tretinoin at night, the skin became completely acne-free along with a healthy glow to it. This was literally my savior at that time. Hope you will try this and love the results as well.

Note:
• Always shake the bottle well before use.
• Always keep it refrigerated to maintain its freshness as green tea is vulnerable to decomposition.
• Use this facial mist within a week or two of preparation. Try to avoid making it in bulk as its efficacy decreases by the time.
• Always do a patch test as some people can be allergic to any of the ingredients used in the face mist.
