Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom have decided to go their separate ways and take some “respectful, loving space” from each other after a year of dating.
It was only a matter of days ago that the pair were seen cuddling up to each other at the Vanity Fair Oscars Party, and yesterday Orlando shared an Instagram snap of himself with his arms around her pet puppy, Butters.
However, things seem to have gone downhill since, with their representatives saying in a statement, “Before rumours or falsifications get out of hand, we can confirm that Orlando and Katy are taking respectful, loving space at this time.”
The couple were seen at the Vanity Party Oscars after party on Sunday night.
A source told People that the pair weren’t quite as close as the photos make it seem, saying that “Katy didn’t spend much time with Orlando. They got together for a photo, but that was about it.”
Katy, 32, and Orlando, 40, started dating around this time last year after attending the same Golden Globes after party in January. However, until Sunday’s Oscars bash, they hadn’t been seen out on the town together since the Unicef Snowflake Ball last November.
Speaking to E! News at the time, Katy only had great things to say about her beau, gushing that, “He’s just got the most kind heart, ever.”
There were plenty of sparks between the pair at this Golden Globes party last January.
It did nothing to abate rumours swirling at the time that the couple were heading towards an engagement.
“[Orlando] always gushes about Katy and thinks she is amazing in a million ways,” a source told People. “He would love to settle down with Katy and have more kids. He hasn’t been this serious about a girl since Miranda.”
Since her shock split from husband of two-years Russell Brand in 2012, Katy dated John Mayer and Diplo, before finding love with Orlando.
Meanwhile the Lord of the Rings star is also a divorcee, and shares five-year-old son Flynn with ex-wife Miranda Kerr, whom he separated from in 2013.
The couple are pictured her in May.
